GreyStone’s Annual Meeting hosts
Together We Save Energy Efficiency Expo!
On Oct. 9, GreyStone Power Corporation will host its 73rd Annual Meeting of Members at the Cooperative’s home office in Douglasville from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. All members and their families are invited to attend. This year’s event will feature an exclusive Together We Save Energy Efficiency Expo, showcasing the value of energy efficiency!
“Imagine if we all made one small change to conserve energy; the impact we could make together on saving money and energy resources would be astronomical,” says GreyStone President/CEO Gary Miller. “GreyStone’s Together We Save Energy Efficiency Expo will demonstrate how taking valuable energy-saving steps leads to real dollar savings by helping members take control of their energy costs.”
Several specialized businesses will be in attendance, educating members about the benefits of conservation and demonstrating valuable energy efficient products and services. Expo vendors include:

This first-ever efficiency expo will also feature an “ask the energy specialists” Q&A booth led by GreyStone’s very own energy experts. Members that register at the Annual Meeting will receive a free Home Energy Savings Starter Kit. Want to make an energy efficient improvement to your home? GEMC Federal Credit Union will be on site offering low-interest energy efficiency loans. Representatives from EMC Security and Gas South will also be at the Annual Meeting with special offers for members.
The Annual Meeting will kick off with a free hot breakfast served from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The fairgrounds will be open throughout the event with exciting carnival rides for children, delicious goodies, games and more. The Whisnants Southern gospel group will perform live from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. With 10 No. 1 songs and numerous Top 20s, this musical ensemble is sure to entertain.
Learn how you can live healthier at GreyStone’s heath fair during the Annual Meeting. The health fair promotes member wellness. Many types of health-related tests, booths and information will be available from 8 a.m. until noon. Flu shots will also be offered by WellStar Douglas for $25 each. Soldiers’ Angels will also be at the event for members to donate needed items for troops and to sign Christmas cards to be sent to soldiers overseas. In an effort to help make Georgia safer for children and families, GreyStone will host a Georgia Child Identification Program (GACHIP) event at the Annual Meeting. GACHIP representatives will provide free ID packets for children ages four to sixteen. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
GreyStone is partnering with the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) to host a food drive, and will have food barrels available for employees and the community to donate canned food items through Oct. 9. Food barrels will be located in the walk-in areas at both the Douglasville and Dallas offices, and will also be available at the Annual meeting for donations. Each year, GreyStone uses its power to make a difference through its support of United Way. This year, GreyStone’s President/CEO Gary Miller will chair the United Way campaign for Douglas and Paulding counties. In an effort to help reach campaign goals, GreyStone not only requests pledges from employees, but will also have a booth at the Annual Meeting for members to give to United Way. At 11 a.m., get the inside scoop on your Cooperative at the official business meeting of members. Learn about GreyStone’s future goals and the Cooperative’s successful past year. Results of the contested board election by mail-in ballot will be announced during the business session, and directors without opposition (uncontested) will be elected by voice vote. Mail-in ballots were mailed to members at the end of August as a cover wrap on the outside of the GEORGIA Magazine. Ballots must be received by the auditing firm by Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. to be counted. The event will conclude with exciting door-prize giveaways, including the grand-prize drawing for a 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck retired from the GreyStone fleet.
