Nominating Committee announces upcoming Director elections, seeks candidates

Janice Morris, chairperson of the GreyStone Power Corporation Nominating Committee, announces that three seats on the Board of Directors will be up for election Oct. 11 at the Cooperative's Annual Meeting of Members.

"Our committee is actively seeking applicants for these board positions," says Janice. "Once all applicants have been received, the Nominating Committee will determine which applicants to call for an interview. A criminal background check will be conducted before the committee will nominate any applicant. Interviews are scheduled to be completed by the end of July."

Directors serve staggered three-year terms. Persons interested in being considered as a candidate by the Nominating Committee may request an application from Nancy Lewis at 770-370-2066. Applications should be faxed to 770-942-6053 or mailed to Nancy at GreyStone Power, 4040 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, GA 30134. All applications must be turned in 5 p.m. July 11. 

For those who do not wish to be considered by the Nominating Committee, a second option is available. A member of GreyStone Power who would like to serve on the board but is not nominated by the Nominating Committee may also submit a petition signed by 50 or more GreyStone members to be placed on the ballot. Persons signing must be the member of record receiving the electric bill. Petitions may be acquired by calling 770-370-2066 and must be submitted to GreyStone no later than Monday, Aug. 18 at 5 p.m.

To have your name and biographical information included in the Annual Meeting edition of GEORGIA Magazine, your information and photo must be submitted by Aug. 18. Candidates must live within the geographic boundary of the district seat they seek. Also, any member employed by a competing utility is not eligible. Members of the Nominating Committee are Dennis E. Lester, District 1; Beatrice McClung, District 2; Janice C. Morris, chairperson, District 3; Pat Skinner, District 4; Kathy Patman, District 5; Laurie Searle, District 6; E.F. Moore, District 7; Jerry Maxwell, District 8; and James R. Storey, District 9. 

Currently serving and seeking re-election this year are John Walton, District 2, Paulding County; Maribeth Wansley, District 6, Fulton, Fayette and Coweta counties; and Milton Jones, District 7, Fulton County.

Geographical boundaries for District 2, Paulding County are Highway 278 on the north and Ridge Road on the south; for District 6, southwestern Fulton County, the area is boundaried by Cascade-Palmetto Highway on the east, the Chattahoochee River on the west and includes areas south of Rivertown Road; for District 7,  Fulton County, the southern boundary is Rivertown Road and the western boundary is Cascade Palmetto Highway.
