Your electric meter is going high-tech
In an effort to serve you better, GreyStone is making a big change in the way we read your electric meter. Over the next three years, new digital meters will be installed in all homes and businesses powered by GreyStone, providing several member service and cost saving benefits as well as accurate and efficient remote meter reading. Most importantly, the new system will give us additional information to assist in outage management and restoration efforts, providing members with improved electric reliability. The system will also enable enhanced billing and service options in the future.
Beginning in August 2007, we will begin to replace members’ electric meters with the newer, technologically advanced meters. The first members in the system to receive the new meters will be those residing in South Fulton. The metering system will combine wireless and power line carrier (PLC) technologies. Hunt Technologies was selected by GreyStone for the project for its extensive advanced metering infrastructure deployment experience and wide range of technology choices.
“The advanced meter reading system meets our goals for a technology that will serve our members well, and will enable us to meet our information requirements now and in the future,” says Gary Miller, GreyStone President/CEO.
A GreyStone Power contractor, Lynn-Edward Power Service, will install the automated meters. Notification door hangers will be left at the premises upon installation. Members are not required to be present unless the meter is inaccessible, and will be notified if an appointment is necessary.
“This is a system-wide enhancement which will allow all electric meters to be read remotely. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this automated meter infrastructure transition,” says Miller.
