Credit card fees now $5

GreyStone will increase its convenience fee on credit card transactions to $5 beginning Feb. 1, 2007.

Members are using credit cards at an increasing rate to pay electric bills due to the convenience and ability to use alternative means of payment. As credit card transactions have increased, the additional employee time and expense to process these payments has also increased relative to other processing methods.

Due to our intention to always be fair to our members, GreyStone charges those who use the service rather than increase rates on all members to cover the charges. The rate structure is also based on this idea: our higher rates in the summer mean that members using the most air conditioning pay the highest electric bills. This makes it fairer to those who are willing to be a little warmer in their homes in order to keep their bills down. In addition, peak demand for electricity is what drives up the cost of wholesale power.
