GreyStone employees march into WalkAmerica with $4,667 for Douglas County
GreyStone employees coordinate fundraising campaigns for three different charities: United Way, March of Dimes and Relay for Life. In 2004 volunteers raised more than $4,600 for the March of Dimes in Douglas County.
March of Dimes/Relay for Life Committee Co-Chairs Tera Ladner, Charlotte Lockhart, Dawn Lovingood and Judy Shaw were hard at work in a quest to find new ways to raise funds in 2004. The answer? Give a little, get a lot. Funds were raised through a series of luncheons, dress down days, raffles, yard sales and barbecue sales.
“We believe this is an extremely worthy cause,” said Lovingood. “It is hard to find a family that hasn't been touched by the premature birth of a child. Although it requires hard work and determination, it is worth every second of our time.“
Ongoing events include Beanie Babies and candy bars, which are always on sale in the cashiers’ area. The March of Dimes WalkAmerica marathon took place in March at the Douglas County Courthouse.
