Wal-Mart and GreyStone team up to promote safety

Every year GreyStone Power and the Wal-Mart on Thornton Road in Lithia Springs, GA team up to promote safety in the community. GreyStone linemen Matt Williams and Roy Flemister were on hand to give demonstrations of how linemen stay safe while working with electricity, and booths were set up inside Wal-Mart sharing safety information with children. Children entered a contest with drawings of safety rules, and the winner received a $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart.

Gracie Sanford, first grader at Sweetwater Elementary School and daughter of Michael and Kim Sanford, won the annual safety drawing contest. Her entry read: “No! Gracie do not be outside when a thunderstorm is here! You should stay inside. Do it!” Her great-grandfather, Henry Medlin, worked on the lines for Georgia Power.

The gift certificate was presented to Gracie on Oct. 29 by Thornton Road Wal-Mart Assistant Store Manager Jerrol Deaver. The next contest will be held in September and October 2005.
