CHAIRMAN'S AWARD: Serving on and off the clock
For some employees, serving the community is a responsibility that doesn’t end after leaving work. In May two GreyStone employees were honored for their commitment to community service with the GreyStone Power Board of Directors Chairman’s Award.
Right-of-Way Trimmer Clay Carter was nominated because of his constant willingness to help others.
“He has a big heart for helping others in need,” wrote his nominator. “He is a very caring person that is an asset to GreyStone with his attitude of cheerfulness and his willingness to lend a hand.”
From doing yard work for employee families to delivering donated furniture to a needy family on behalf of GreyStone, Clay often uses his free time to serve the community.
Senior Member Services Representative Sherri Morgan
“She loves her job, and is able to tackle big projects with enthusiasm. She puts her heart and soul into her work and her efforts are noticed,” her nominator wrote.
But Sherri’s work doesn’t end there. She is involved with the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs, teaching a Sunday school class and organizing different church activities. Once a week her lunch hour is spent reading with a student at Beulah Elementary School, and every year she walks at both the March of Dimes and Relay for Life fundraising events.
This is the second set of awards for 2004. Two more sets of Chairman’s awards will be named this year.
Chairman’s Award
In an effort to recognize and honor employees who go the extra mile for their co-workers and the reputation of GreyStone, the Chairman’s Award was established. Employees are nominated for the award by co-workers each quarter, and two employees are chosen from the nominations to be honored. Each award recipient receives a $100 dollar bill.
